A History of Photography from its beginnings till the 1920s
by Dr. Robert Leggat MA M.Ed FRPS FRSA (VS)

This website is not designed to be a course on the history of photography such as a resource to dip into. In addition to pen-portraits of many of the most important photographers of the period, it contains information on some of the most significant processes used during the early days of photography.

Luikerwaal

The International Directory of Photography Historians (VS)

I began what became the International Directory of Photography Historians and is now called simply PhotoHistorians in the fall of 1987. For a number of years it existed as an annual paper-printed compendium. In 1997 I began its move to the Internet. The move seems to have caused two interesting things to happen. First, the number of entries increased enormously. Second, the directory became a much more international listing.
